Analysis of the wider European region

 

Additive manufacturing sector in EU has been fast developing. From micro, small and medium sized companies, to institutes and various institutions, all the way to wide ranging funding support (on the EU level but also on national levels in some countries and regions). The Initiatives such as Vanguard, AM Platform, Smart regions serve various purposes:

• Mapping and collaboration opportunities
• Leverage for funding
• Promotion and marketing, as well as establishing stakeholders in the EU map.

The AM Platform amongst other offers the best overview of the AM ongoings in EU, and is also serving as the interface to European commission, whereas Vanguard initiative on the other hand joins various pilots (not just Additive manufacturing) and is also supported by regional policy makers, thus has a better political stake.

Supported projects in EU are numerous. In this report we only highlight the most important/relevant ones for Addcircles project, as otherwise the list would be non-exhaustive. If other relevant projects come to our attention we will update the report accordingly.

The stakeholder map, which is an additional deliverable of Addcircles, will on the other hand complement this report with relevant references of stakeholders in Austria and Slovenia.
